The Festival de Música del Pacífico Petronio Álvarez is the largest and most vibrant celebration of Afro-Colombian culture in the world. But for a first-time visitor, the sheer scale, deep history, and unique rhythms can feel overwhelming to navigate alone.
Our curated tours are specifically designed for travelers experiencing the festival for the very first time. We don't just take you to the event—we provide the essential cultural context that transforms a great vacation into a profound life experience. By introducing you directly to the music, history, food, and traditions behind the celebration, we help you understand the heart of the Colombian Pacific.
Our goal is simple: to connect you so deeply with the Afro-Colombian experience that you’ll already be planning your next trip back.
1.Thursday, August 13th: Welcome Dinner & Sounds of Cali:Evening Kickoff.
We begin our journey together with an official Welcome Dinner to meet your fellow travelers. Immediately following dinner, we will hop aboard a traditional Chiva (party bus) to hit the streets and introduce you to the vibrant, unmistakable sounds of Cali, Colombia.
2.Friday, August 14th: Roots of the Pacific Rhythms:Cultural Immersion.
Before diving into the main festival grounds, we spend the day learning about the specific musical traditions of the Pacific Coast of Colombia, setting the foundation for the rhythms you will hear throughout the weekend.
3.Saturday, August 15th: Black History & Afro-Colombian Art:Full Day Experience.
4.Sunday, August 16th: The Living Heritage of Puerto Tejada:Martial Arts Legacy.
Today we take an excursion to Puerto Tejada for a powerful, rare experience witnessing Esgrima de Machete y Bordón—a traditional Afro-Colombian martial art utilizing machetes and walking sticks, passed down through generations.
5.Monday, August 17th: Pacific Coast Flavors & Farewell:Culinary Finale.
We wrap up our experience with an interactive traditional Pacific Coast cooking class. You will learn to work with the rich coconut, seafood, and herbal flavors that define the region's world-class cuisine before heading home.
